About the instructor

Ruth A. Hughes is an accomplished teacher and trainer who has been involved in the fitness industry for over 25 years. She is the Director of Education and Certification for the Walk 15® Instructor Program. She has owned her own fitness studio and has worked as a teacher of fitness related disciplines as diverse as aerobics, fitness walking, Pilates, kickboxing, weight and resistance training, spinning, longevity training for seniors and midlife fitness for women.

Ruth's degrees include a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Exercise Science. She has taken many graduate classes in Physiology and Kinesiology. Ruth is on the Exercise Science faculty of Suffolk County Community College in Selden, New York. She is also a Master Certification Specialist/Trainer for The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and has regularly presented one, two, and three day programs throughout the United States as well as internationally. Ruth has travelled worldwide to locations in Cairo, Egypt, Seoul, South Korea, Wiesbaden and Heidelberg, Germany, Iwakuni, Japan, Lakenheath, UK and Basil, Switzerland teaching health and fitness programs.
